The most convenient major airport is London Heathrow Airport (LHR), which has international and domestic flights, and is about 50 miles (80 km) from Abingdon. From Heathrow there are two alternative routes to Didcot Parkway Station:
- The "Heathrow Express" service to Paddington Station followed by the train from Paddington to Didcot Parkway. This is the quickest route (takes around one hour) and a single ticket costs between £47.60 and £56.50 (depending on time of travel).
- The "Rail Air" bus to Reading Station, and then the train from Reading to Didcot Parkway. This bus picks up from Terminal 5 and the central Heathrow bus station – but not from Terminal 4. This is the most direct and the cheapest route but it takes longer (around 1.5 hours). A single ticket costs between £24.30 and £27.30 (depending on time of travel).
Southampton Airport (SOU) has international and domestic flights and is 60 miles (100 km) from Abingdon. You can catch the train to Didcot Parkway via Reading from Southampton Airport Parkway station – the journey takes 1 hour 20 mins and costs between £28.30 and £29.80 depending on time of travel.
Gatwick Airport (LGW) has international and domestic flights and is 80 miles (130 km) from Abingdon. There are regular trains from Gatwick to Didcot Parkway (via Reading) with around a 2 hour journey time and a cost (one-way) of between £25 and £52 depending on time of travel.
